Well, the draw was made... but does the post position really matter in this caliber of horses? Does Sidney's Candy really stand less of a chance leaving from 20 than Lookin At Lucky leaving from 1? Or is the outside looking in a better position to be in than up against the rail getting jostled for position? I think it will all depend on how they break. And with a 60% of rain, it could be anyone's race.
Today, I'm focusing on the Oaks...I'm picking Amen Hallelujah... I know that Blind Luck is the best horse on paper... but in a fourteen horse field, its hard to justify betting a 6/5 morning line. Blind Luck is a great horse, but she isn't unbeatable. Off the top of my head, I know that she has been beaten by Crisp, Evening Jewel and Beautician. That being said, looking at the horses, I'm keying 13 with 5/11/7.
Rachel Alexandra is running in La Troienne Stakes on April 30 (Race 6 on the Oaks card)... Drew post position 4. Racing against Zardana.. definitely worth watching.
A few facts that are mixing in my mind...
Good luck this weekend!
