Florida Derby (Grade I)
Purse $750,000. For Three Year Olds. Early Bird nominations close Saturday, January 9, 2010 for a fee of $300 each, which shall accompany the nomination. Regular closing of $3,000 each by Saturday, March 6, 2010. All horses to pay $7,500 to pass the entry box and $7,500 additional to start, with $750,000 Guaranteed. Supplementary nominations may be made at time of entry at a fee of $30,000, which includes entry and starting fees. All fees shall be paid prior to the start of the race. The owner of the winner to receive $450,000, $150,000 to second, $75,000 to third, $37,500 to fourth, $22,500 to fifth and $15,000 to sixth. Weight: 122 Lbs. Horses finishing first, second or third in the Holy Bull and/or the Fountain of Youth Stakes will automatically be nominated to the Florida Derby. The association will pay for the nomination fee if the horse has not been previously nominated. This race will be limited to 14 Starters, with Also Eligibles. If more than fourteen (14) entries pass the entry box preference will be given tograded stakes winners then highest career earnings. Starters to be named through the entry box by the usual time of closing. Florida Derby trophy to the winning owner. One And One Eighth Miles.
